研究所の目的
①労働運動・労働組織に関する国際比較研究
本研究所は明治大学労働教育メディア研究センターから独立して設立されました。 同センターの二つの研究課題の内の一つ、労働運動の国際比較研究を引き継いでいます。
②国境を越える労働運動の研究
本研究所は2007年まで存在していた在野の労働研究機関、国際労働研究センターの設立趣意の一部を継承し発展することを目指しています。その志とは「一国の枠を超えた国際労働研究の領域を開拓すること」です。
③新たな労働者運動と持続可能な開発目標(SDGs)の研究
既存の労働組合を中心とする労働運動はグローバル化した世界の中で十分にその機能を発揮できなくなってきており、運動主体や運動課題の拡大など新たな方向性、発展が求められています。その鍵となるのは、国連加盟各国に実施計画策定・実施が義務付けられているSDGsの達成です。そしてSDGsの担い手の本命が社会的連帯経済です。国際的な議論や実態の動向を把握することを通して社会的連帯経済について発信していきます。
Objectives of the Institute
（1）International comparative research on labour movements and labour organizations
The Institute was separated from the Research Center for Labour Education and Media, Meiji University, and established as a research project unit in April 2021. The Institute has taken over one of the Center's two research objectives; international comparative study of labour movements.
（2）Research on transnational labour movements
The Institute will continue to work on the founding principle of the Center for International Labour Studies, an independent labour research institute which has been under operation until 2007. The objective was to develop the field of labour research that goes beyond the boundaries of nation-states.
（3）Research on the new workers' movement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The existing labour movement centred on trade unions is no longer considered to be fully serving its functions in a globalized economy. The Institute, therefore, will look into new directions by widening its base and renovating its agenda. The key idea to this circumstance is the achievement of the SDGs, for which each UN member country is required to adopt and undertake a national implementation plan. The Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) is the key to the SDGs. The institute will disseminate information on the SSE by undertaking research on the trends of international discussions and activities.
