NOZAWA Chie, Ph.D.
Professor, School of Political Science and Economics, Meiji University

Born in Hyogo Prefecture. Specializing in urban policy and housing policy. Involved in urban planning, land policy and housing policy of the state and various municipalities. Received her master’s degree from Osaka University and worked as a general contractor on development projects before going on to earn her PhD in engineering from the University of Tokyo. Was a part-time lecturer at the University of Tokyo and professor at Tōyō University prior to assuming her current post. Director at the City Planning Institute of Japan since 2021. Works include Oiru ie, kuzureru machi: Jūtaku kajō shakai no matsuro (Aging Houses and Deteriorating Cities: the fate of a Society with Excessive Residential Supply) and Oita ie otoroenu machi: Sumai o shūkatsu suru (Old Houses and Revitalizing Cities – Planning for the End of Housing).
